Support Brian O’Neal and his Do Foundation

“I am entering this contest on behalf of a newly developed organization called “DO Foundation.”  DO Foundation is an organization dedicated to improving the lives of everyone with an emphasis on the economically challenged and culturally disadvantaged. We are striving to improve the lives of individuals, families, veterans and teens who are displaced/homeless by providing immediate assistance in regaining a life of self-sufficiency. We have put together an event that will allow us to begin to achieve that goal starting in Detroit, MI. I am proposing to organize an 8 -9 city all star concert tour simply titled “Dreams In Color” to raise proceeds that will be invested to fund in-house and outside community empowerment programs and housing for the homeless. This will be a highly publicized concert event, featuring some of the biggest names in Contemporary Jazz, Blues, and R&B as well as popular local artist , comedians and star athletes. ”

Quote from Brian O’Neal

I strongly urge anyone following Saved Life: Coast to Coast to help a friend of mine realize his dreams. I am behind him 110% on his vision and mission to help the homeless! Let’s do something! Let’s get involved!

Saved Life “A Mile In Their Shoes” Day 11, New Beginnings

Today is already Day 11 that Steve and I have been living amongst the homeless and afflicted. As I got ready for bed last night I realized what an awesome calling God has given me. I realized the sincere change He has brought into my life. I had a moment of absolute serenity and gratitude!

Today, I have learned to be grateful for the small things in life that most take for granted, such as the hot shower that I was allowed to take this morning. I am grateful to take the time to listen to the birds singing when I wake up in the morning. I am grateful for being able to see the true beauty in a sunrise or sunset, and knowing it is something I can never possess. I am grateful for being able to truly realize that it is the simple things in life that matter most. From a babies laughter to watching an elderly couple still holding hands after fifty plus years of marriage. Today, I am grateful to be ALIVE!

During the first eleven days of this ride I have went through many different emotions ranging from frustration to extreme happiness in knowing I am making a difference. Today, I have vowed to myself and Papa to take it slow and easy and not forget it is not the destination, but the journey, that truly matters most!

See ya on the road,

Jason

Renewing our minds daily truly brings about the change and transformation that Papa loves. There is so much we can learn from a simple little ole’ butterfly. That little ole’ butterfly showed me how to attain freedom and serenity.  As well as be the man I am today! Glory be to God!

Saved Life “A Mile In Their Shoes”, Day 10, What a Blessing!

“He who is gracious to a poor man lends to the LORD, and He will repay him for his good deed.”

Proverbs 19:17

We have been in Lake City, Florida now for four days ministering to the homeless, distributing socks and toiletries, and getting to know the local area homeless service providers. We have had the opportunity to meet many people on “both sides of the tracks”, the homeless and those you provide the much needed services to “the least of these”. I would like to take a moment and introduce you to an organization who has truly been a blessing to Saved Life: Coast to Coast, The Christian Resource Center of Lake City.

“For over 20 years, the Christian Service Center has faithfully served Columbia County with care and compassion. A group of pastors formed this organization in 1982 to help those in need, and over the years with prayer, dedication, and people like yourself who care, we have become one of the most efficient non-profit organizations in North Florida. We are supported solely by non-government donations such as churches, individuals, and businesses, and we are governed by a devoted board of directors.”

For the past few days we have been checking in with Charlie and the staff of the Christian Resource Center to speak with them on exactly what they do and what services they provide. Everytime we have stopped by, they were always extremely busy. “We served 45 families today alone!” stated Charlie, the Assistant Director of CRCLC. Besides serving the homeless population, the CRCLC also provides food baskets, clothing, rent assistance, and many other services to those in the Columbia County community who may fell on bad times and need a helping hand up!

I am extrememly grateful for Charlie and the dedicated staff of individuals who make up the staff of the Christian Resource Center of Lake City. Remember, the other day when I hadn’t showered for 6 day? It was Charlie who graciously allowed us to get cleaned up! Thanks again Charlie!

See ya on the road,

Jason

This fine lady made my day…she is 93 years old and still finds the time to volunteer on a regular basis! If she can find the time…shouldn’t the rest of us? She made my day!

  • Saved Life: Coast to Coast

We are launching a nationwide homeless awareness ride titled “ Coast 2 Coast: A Mile In Their Shoes”. We are launching from the Jacksonville Beach Pier in Jacksonville, Florida on March 20, 2010 and finishing at the Santa Monica Pier, just outside of Los Angeles, California. A journey of approximately 2,800 miles. We plan on doing this in a 7 month timeframe. But once I reach California I may continue on a new journey wherever God leads me. I am not stopping until I am convinced I have made a difference in the way people view the poor and needy of society and become willing to do something about homelessness. Did I mention that I am doing this on a bicycle?
  • Our Purpose and Mission:

    1. Encourage people to ask themselves, “Am I doing enough?”
  • 2. I want to better understand the life of the homeless in America, and to see, firsthand, how their needs are being met, directly and indirectly.
  • 3. To encourage Christians to “Live Out Loud” in whatever way that God is asking them too! Encourage them to let faith overcome their fears!
  • 4. To learn personally what it means to depend on Christ and experience pure contentment and confidence in Him to guide me on this journey of awakening.
  • 5. My vision is to and implement our organizational plan for a "Cities of Refuge" Alcohol/Drug Regeneration Ministry to help alcoholics, addicts, and the chronically homeless attain freedom from their bondage and become productive citizens. But moreso, give them a place they can call HOME!
  • I want to challenge people to summon the courage to “live out loud” their faith in God by showing true Christian compassion and gentleness for the less fortunate of society.
  • This is the heart of living a “Saved Life”.

    Are you living it?
  • Who is Jason?

My name is Jason J. Day. I am a soldier in the army of God. The Lord Jesus Christ is my commanding officer. The Holy Bible is my Code of Conduct. Faith, prayer, and the Word are my weapons of warfare. I have been taught by the Holy Spirit, trained by experience, tried by adversity. I have a desire to effect a change in our society for the homeless …and all those who are lost and suffering. I have made a decision to do just that, to give the lost an opportunity to hope again! I am determined to succeed! Get involved! We are here to offer light to the lost, encouragement for the weary, and hope for the hurting. We are Saved Life. Keep us in your prayers!
